Aberlady Community Association

The Aberlady Community Association has two aims:

Please see our Newsletter:

The Community Association meets monthly in the small room of the Community Hall, usually on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30. All adult residents of Aberlady are members and are welcome (indeed encouraged!) to attend. See the village diary for details of meetings.

The Aberlady Community Association is a registered charity and also runs the Community Hall for the benefit of the village. The Community Hall was formerly the Drill Hall and was gifted to the Village by the Earl of Wemyss in 1951. Much of the committee's efforts go towards maintaining the hall and promoting its use.

The hall has four trustees:

Archie Baird Greyfriars, Main St Tel: 870277
Iain Macaskill Ashrig, Cockle Square Tel: 870371
John M Stevenson Wheatfield, 8 Marine Rd, Gullane Tel: 01620 844930
Andrew Smith Shell Cottage, Main St Tel: 870254

We run regular events [e.g. Table Sales] to raise funds to maintain the Hall.
The Hall is hired out to local organisations to run clubs and hold events and to private individuals for parties, weddings etc. There are a number of Clubs and organisations that meet regularly in the Hall:

During Gala week in June the hall hosts a variety of Community events including a Senior Citizens' Social Night, Children's Party, Family Quiz and Gala Dance.

The hall is also available for private functions - including wedding receptions.

During summer holidays the Council organise a number of sports for local children to attend [fees are payable.] Programmes are distributed to children at school and are available at local libraries.

The Committee would like to extend a warm welcome to new villagers and invite them to come along and find out what goes on in your Community and maybe even participate in the running of the hall and events there.
