Aberlady Neighbourhood Watch has
been in existence for almost 20 years and has made a positive
contribution to community policing and the fight against crime.
We are fortunate in having a very low crime rate in Aberlady,
largely due to having a dedicated Community Policeman, PC. Innes,
the vigilance of villagers and to ensuring that basic crime prevention
measures are adhered to.
Neighbourhood Watch is a way of assisting the Police by providing
them with the extra eyes and ears they require in order to reduce
and to prevent the ever increasing level of crime. It is about
ordinary citizens working together to protect themselves and their
neighbours, by reporting to the Police anything suspicious they
see or hear in the immediate area. By co-operating in this way,
you can assist in preventing crime, thus helping to maintain the
low-crime status currently enjoyed by the community of Aberlady.
Once new housing has been established a meeting will be organised
with the new residents, the Community Policeman, PC. Innes, and
members of the Aberlady Neighbourhood Watch in order to appoint
additional Group Co-ordinators and bring the new housing areas
within the Watch Area.
Remember to inform the company with which you have arranged home insurance that you live within a Neighbourhood Watch Area - you should be entitled to a reduction in premium.
