The fourth volume of the East Lothian Statistical Account 1945 -2000, recently published, includes Aberlady (and Gullane, Dirleton, North Berwick, Athelstaneford, Whitekirk and Tyninghame.) The account provides a readable and fascinating social history for the general reader as well as a wonderful reference tool for students and researchers. This volume can be purchased at East Lothian libraries and local bookshops (e.g. Kelsey's in Haddington) at £14.95. Further details are at www.el4.org.uk
The Community Association has just (February) published a newsletter that is to be distributed to all residents. Click Newsletter to read it on-line.
A Community Association event held on Friday 27th February included a presentation and discussion on the potential for twinning Aberlady and Valleraugue in Southern France. Over 60 people attended and, of those who expressed an opinion, a large majority supported the idea - see Twinning. A party of 20 villagers from Valleraugue visited Aberlady in August. Click here for details and pictures.
Well, obviously - this web site.
The site is based on the "Introduction to Aberlady", published by the Community Association in May 2003.
In addition there is a village diary of events and this "what's new" section. These two sections will be updated at regular intervals (on a" best efforts" basis!) The intention is to do this approximately monthly, at the end of each month, so any input for "What's New" should be sent by e-mail to admin@aberlady.org before the last week of each month.
You can also get your personal "Aberlady" e-mail address and support the Aberlady Community Association, too. If you would like to be e-mailed as "fred.bloggs@aberlady.org" (or whatever you fancy - within reason) just e-mail admin@aberlady.org for details.
