The Parent Forum encompasses everyone who has a child at the school, so all parents are welcome to get involved; the Parent Council is made up of volunteers from that group. Its role is to work with the school to help to create a welcoming and inclusive school community.
The Parent Council is ready to help with any issues brought to it by the Head Teacher or parents. It meets six times in the school year and publishes its meeting dates in the school newsletter. Volunteers serve on Parent Council for a period of two years, although this can be extended.
The PTA exists to support the school, assist parents and run activities that enhance the life of the children at Aberlady Primary. We are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch of parents who fulfil these aims through a number of regular and one-off activities which could be classified as fundraising, fun or functional – or any combination of the three!
Funds raised by the PTA, through events such as the Autumn Fair, are normally donated to the school to pay for activities, equipment or other resources that improve our children’s experience at school, and which would not normally be provided from core school funds.
The PTA has a small, but active, committee whose members work together with a larger group of parent helpers/supporters. Meetings are held bi-monthly, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. Any parent is welcome to attend – but you don't have to come to meetings to get involved.
The catchment area for Aberlady primary School includes Craigielaw, Gosford policies (but not Spittal), Ballencrieff and Luffness.
